The St. Brigid Community Outreach Center was started by Bonnie Avila who first served the needy out of her humble home here in Hanford. As more and more people in need came to her for help, she moved the center to several small locations until 2005. It was within that year that Fr. Dan Avila, who was St. Brigid's Catholic Church pastor at the time, purchased the property where the center is now located, today. Both Bonnie Avila and Fr. Dan Avila were instrumental in the founding of the St. Vincent de Paul Center, now known as St. Brigid Community Outreach Center, which has had an amazing impact in our community by serving the needy. Fr. Dan Avila is currently the Director of Vocations for the Diocese of Fresno. Bonnie Avila has since passed, but her legend lives on.
